XXI ALL-RUSSIAN CONFERENCE “TRAIN TRAFFIC SAFETY”

RUT MIIT XXI ALL-RUSSIAN SCIENTIFIC AND PRACTICAL CONFERENCE “TRAIN SAFETY”

On May 19-20, 2022, the XXI All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference “Train Safety” was held at the site of the Russian University of Transport. This year, the chosen theme of the conference “Innovation – the basis for the progressive development of the ecosystem of safety in railway transport” was particularly relevant and consonant with the rapid changes that are taking place in Russia and around the world.

RUT (MIIT) is traditionally a platform for an open and productive dialogue between representatives of science and the transport community on the most pressing issues of the work of railways and transport in general. The conference “Train Safety” is an open online platform for communication, designed to help navigate the changes associated with innovative development, with the digital transformation of railway transport. More than 90 reports on the most relevant topics of the transport industry were presented at the conference. The conference was attended in various formats by representatives from all railways of JSC “Russian Railways” and all railway universities and research organizations. This form of communication allows, on the one hand, to better understand the problems facing the railway industry, and on the other hand, to evaluate possible scientific approaches to solving these problems. During the two days of work, more than 3,000 people took part in the conference online and offline.

Transtelesoft Company presented a report on the topic “Development of solutions in the field of railway traffic safety on the example of the Bort system. The new generation “Bort” traffic safety system is designed for use on all types of rolling stock both when ordering new locomotives and when replacing outdated safety devices that require replacement. The “Bort” system meets all the requirements of the Technical Regulations of the Customs Union TR CU 001/2011 in terms of traffic safety and is intended for installation on all types of rolling stock operated on railway sections equipped with automatic locomotive signaling devices ALSN, as well as for sections equipped with semi-automatic locking, has the possibility of application on railway sections according to technologies including control of the integrity of the train by on-board means and the separation of trains by mobile block sections. The Bort system adapts to any digital systems of automated monitoring of their logistics management trains at local circulation sites.  The locomotive safety system “Bort” is an integrated system in which the functions of ensuring traffic safety are implemented, the possibility of retrofitting with a driver information system, an auto guidance system, monitoring of the driver’s wakefulness, video recording, loop-free diagnostics, and additional computing power is reserved to supplement with new necessary functions. For example, interaction with the registers of the parameters of the locomotive RPDA-T and Autorun Systems increases the efficiency of these systems with additional capabilities, taking into account the operational train situation.  At the same time, the ergonomics of the driver’s workplace and the intuitiveness of the user interface have been significantly improved. All data from security systems and other subsystems are displayed on a single LCD display.

The on-board locomotive safety system “Bort” is currently being successfully installed on mainline diesel locomotives of the TE33A, TEP33A, shunting TEM11A series, manufactured at the locomotive-building plant “Locomotive Kurastyru Zauyty” (LKZ), SSPS (TMZ Vorovsky). Projects have been developed and are being implemented to install the system on electric locomotives of the KZ8A and KZ4AT series, the TEM18DM shunting diesel locomotive on the BMZ. The system can be adapted to any type of traction rolling stock. In the decisions of the round table, a proposal was made to open the procedure for obtaining the admission of the Bort system for installation on traction rolling stock of JSC “Russian Railways” and other companies in Russia for the admission of operation on public tracks.

The final decisions of the conference, formed as a result of communication between representatives of the scientific community and employees of the transport industry, will serve as a basis for the speedy introduction of advanced developments into real operation.
